The two surfaces in Composed are centred and closely aligned, giving the leaf a balanced, settled form. Its contours remain clear, while the overlap introduces enough difference in colour and detail to keep that balance from feeling rigid.

The title came from the way the leaf holds together within the frame. What interested me was how its different parts remain in balance without one overwhelming the other. The restrained setting allows that relationship to remain the focus.

In the Character triptych within Silent Selves, Composed provides a point of balance between Reserved and Candid. Taken together, the three works consider different ways character may become visible.

Edition Details

Print– Limited edition of 12, plus 2 Artist Proofs retained by the artist. 70 × 85 cm overall (27.6 × 33.5 in), with a 60 × 75 cm image area (23.6 × 29.5 in) and a 5 cm (2 in) white border.

Quality –Archival giclée print on museum-grade Ilford Cotton Rag Textured paper.
