In Candid, a broad overlap allows the reverse structure of the leaf to remain plainly visible through the brighter outer form. The two surfaces sit together openly, with their differences easy to follow across the composition.

That directness led to the title. I was interested in what happens when what usually sits behind an outward appearance is allowed to remain visible rather than being held back. The image does not present one side as more truthful than the other; its openness comes from seeing both.

Following Reserved and Composed‍, ‍Candid completes the Character triptych in Silent Selves. Together, the works consider what is held back, what is kept in balance and what is shown more freely.

Edition Details

Print– Limited edition of 12, plus 2 Artist Proofs retained by the artist. 70 × 85 cm overall (27.6 × 33.5 in), with a 60 × 75 cm image area (23.6 × 29.5 in) and a 5 cm (2 in) white border.

Quality –Archival giclée print on museum-grade Ilford Cotton Rag Textured paper. Each work carries a digital artist signature and edition number in the lower right margin, produced as a 100% carbon-neutral print, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a signed artist’s letter referencing the work within the Silent Selves series.

Framing – Supplied unframed. The integrated white border allows for flexible framing or float mounting.
